Smooth Treats

Producers vs Dispensaries

Smooth Treats  is not a licensed producer in Canada but we do follow the same security protocol, meaning that your security is safe with us. The Canadian government put in effect the Marijuana for Medical Purposes Regulations (MMPR) to give marijuana producers a set of guidelines to work with. The regulations put forth by the MMPR is ongoing we at Smooth Treats are following these developments as they continue to unfold. The process to become a licensed producer (LP) in Canada is rigorous one and has considerable security screening and protocols to ensure applicants are performing in good faith with high standards. We at Smooth Treats work to put consumers like you in touch with only the best cannabis  producers across Canada. Smooth Treats prides itself at having access to the very best across the country. The MMPR has been instrumental in developing a standard for marijuana producers and its protocols help us connect consumers with the very  best producers.

How are your Cannabis products consumed?

Cannabis can be smoked, vaporized, eaten or taken orally, applied topically, or used as a suppository. The method of consumption is usually determined by the consumer’s personal preference or to treat a specific condition. Certain products will require a specific form of consumption. For example, concentrates like shatter or budder are normally vaporized, and need to reach a higher level of temperature in order to be effective, thus the user will need to have specific tools to use the product properly. If you would like to learn more about what types of marijuana products we have or what might work for you, please contact us and we would be happy to help.

How long can I keep your products?

Our products are additive and preservative free and if stored in a Ziploc bag in the freezer they will stay fresh for 6 months to a year.

How long do I have to wait to feel the effects when using edibles?

Edible products can take 1 ½ to 2 hours to take effect and vary on your body weight and tolerance. We advise starting with low dosage items and going slow. Low dosage will help you find your specific tolerance level and you and work forward from there.

How to store products.

All products come shipped in an air seal plastic bag that can be recycled and we recommend storing your unused opened product in a Ziploc bag either in the fridge or freezer.

What sort of effect will your products have on patients?

The effects of marijuana are highly subjective based on the consumer. Not everyone will have the same experience from using a product, and it is important to know your own capacity. If you are a new user, it is best to start with a lower dosage and increase as you become more comfortable with the product.

It is difficult to say that our products will have one specific type of effect. All people respond differently to cannabis and different cannabinoids according to their individual physiology and needs. The feedback we receive is varied and very specific to each patient. Everyone’s physiology and the way they process edibles is going to be a little bit different from one another. What we can say is that cannabis produces a bi-phasic effect – meaning that if you eat a little bit and experience one type of effect, eating a lot will likely cause the opposite effect to occur. For example, when one person eats just one dose of our products they may feel sleepy and very relaxed overall. But when they eat two or more doses, they may become more energetic and engaged. These effects are, of course, going to be different for everybody, so it’s difficult to make any guarantees when answering this question.

Who Should avoid using Cannabis?

Though cannabis has been shown to have excellent medical qualities it may not be for everyone. Marijuana and marijuana related products are not recommended while the brain is still in its development stage. This refers directly to  children, adolescents and pregnant women.

It is highly debated whether marijuana can trigger schizophrenia or psychosis in those who are predisposed to the illness. Studies have shown that THC can enhance symptoms of the illness, where CBD can relieve these symptoms. Those who have schizophrenia in their family should be cautious when choosing any marijuana products and speak with their doctor first.

You should never drive or operate heavy machinery while under the influence of marijuana.

How do you produce your oil and extracts?

For our concentrates (extracts) all are  produced through a combination of BHO extraction and Fractional Distillation.  We have noted that this is the best and only method for insuring and maintaining the specific individual characteristics of the base strains of cannabis and which keeps all of the original flavour notes and personalized highs which each strain provides. All of the concentrates are free of all residual solvents, a result of purging all of these extracts  for 5 days. This also helps to make the concentrates we carry incredibly smooth and at the same time very strong.  Lastly, these concentrates are produced without the use of sugar based syrups or flavorings , only strain based terpenes which enhance the existing flavour notes

How do you test your products?

Our products originate from locally licensed and experienced producers. They are then screened for any contaminants and we test all of our raw materials before they are infused with fractional distilled oils/concentrates  We also run test samples for each batch to ensure quality control and consistency. We publish test results on our website as well as lab results.

What are the percentages of your concentrates?

All our products are lab tested and from verified and reputable suppliers. Unless posted the rule of thumb is 80%THC / 20%CBD

What is CBD?

CBD is an abbreviation for the term Cannabinoids which are the chemical compounds secreted by cannabis flowers that provide relief to a wide range of symptoms. Cannabis contains at least 85 different cannabinoids, many of which have medical benefits. Cannabinoids will have a different effect depending on which receptors in the brain they bind to.THC and CBD are the most well-known and used compounds. CBD is the second most active compound in cannabis and is not psychoactive like THC. In fact, CBD actually counteracts the psychoactive properties of THC and has a calming effect on the user. It is a highly effective treatment for nausea, anxiety and inflammation, both internal and external. CBD is used to treat conditions like: epilepsy, crohn’s disease, multiple sclerosis, PTSD, arthritis, psychosis, and cancer.

What is THC?

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the most active ingredient in cannabis and is very psychoactive. It is often used to treat pain, nausea, and stress disorders, however it can also cause increased anxiety and paranoia.

What is the difference between CBD(cannabidiol) products and those products with THC(delta-9-tetrahydrocannibinol)?

For those individuals that are seeking medical assistance from cannabis products and are not looking for the subsequent ‘high’ that can accompany those products then CBD related products may suit them the best. CBD has been show to help in pain reduction, anxiety, nausea, sedative effects, anti-convulsive, anti-schizophrenic, arrests the spread of cancer and so forth.
